Spring, At Last!

Hello dearies,

This has been a darn long winter. It has gotten to the point where I have divided the temperature into "warm", and "cold". Warm is above freezing. Cold is below. I consider 33 degrees to be warm. Maybe this is a little sad. Maybe.
It was, in fact, warm for a time. It was 50 degrees!! The snow melted, the birds were out, and it seemed that spring was on its way. That hope was mercilessly crushed the next day when the temperature plummeted enough that puddles could be skated on.

Where are you spring?! I am done. Hear me? DONE. At the beginning of winter, this is me, begging, pleading, and generally being a nuisance until someone agrees to go play.

Annnnndd this is me now when the idea of being in the cold for an unnecessary amount of time is brought up.

So, whenever you want to make an appearance, spring, I am ready. I am so ready.

Eye Mustaches

Hey guys!
I'd just like to bring appreciation to my two year old brother's word for eyebrows; Eye mustaches. I kid you not. He really does call them that. He got very mad at my mother, because they were playing with one of those toys that have a blank magnetic face with stick on facial features, and mumma kept trying to put eyes on it, but my darling little brother would have none of that. His reason? Attached to the eyes were what he dubbed "Eye Mustaches". Dad tried to explain that those were just eyebrows, and most people have them. He took off his glasses to show him he had eyebrows, which was a mistake. Philip then proceed to grab our dad's eyebrows while screaming "WHY YOU HAVE EYE MUSTACHE?? EYE MUSTACHE BAD!" .
So there's a two year old for you.

Hi?

Um...
*Looks around*
Anyone still here?? I'm afraid this blog got a bit dusty. It's been almost a year since I've last posted. About nine months to be more precise. Wow.

I know, I am a bad blogger, you have my apologies.
Now, I'm not making any promises, but I will try to start blogging again. Why haven't you been blogging Veela? Well, that is because of a thing called highschool, which pretty much means I'm busy with all the homework, all the time. And I have to work a social life in there too.

That pretty much sums it up. So happy New Year to everyone, and with luck, there will be new posts coming soon.

Well That's Some Strange Vocabulary...

Hello folks,
What's up? Raise your hand if you are also suffering from the Monday Blues. I love learning, and I think the subjects are all very interesting, but I absolutely hate getting back to school after the weekend. Mostly because I need to get out of bed and find my textbooks which every week seem to magically hide themselves from me. I found my world history textbook at the bottom of my laundry basket this morning. How it got there is anyone's guess.
I take Japanese for my foreign language. A couple of weeks ago, I completed Rosetta Stone Japanese, and until this fall when I can take a class at the community college, I've been just studying from various Japanese textbooks. One of them is elementary leveled, and way too easy, but it does have all the grammatical explanations which is nice. I was going through one of the vocabulary lists, and they had all the really basic vocabulary- mother, father, brother, sister, school, work, ect. All very normal. And then I got to a word I didn't recognize. Jinruigaku.
Um, okay....
Meaning: Anthropology.
Uhhhh....
Why?
Why is this word being taught in a elementary Japanese textbook??? I am befuzzled.

Someone's Head Is Going To Roll For This!

Hello,
I think the tittle describes my mood perfectly right now. The queen and I, well, we have much more in common than I ever thought. I could totally run around screaming "OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!" right now.
I just got back from violin lessons, and I suppose as a lesson it went very well, but it ended with my making a deal unintentionally with my teacher that results in my having to practice three hours a day for the next month. It started out with my teacher jokingly saying that I could play my new song for my recital next month, if I practiced five hours a day, everyday, until then. Well, let me tell you, there is no way in Neverland that I can play for that long. I usually practice for 45-60 minutes most days. Not Five Hours. Ever.
So I laughed and said, Well, I couldn't manage five, but maybe three. She responded with, Good, then that's a deal. I'll call several times during the week to check with your mother that you're practicing that much!
Oh good heavens... what have I done!?!

Buh-Bye Cookie Season!!

Finally.
It's over.
Completely, and totally, over.
That would be the Girl Scout cookie sales. No more walking around in below freezing weather trying to convince people that they need just one more box of cookies even though they already bought a dozen from their grandchildren, no more standing out in the cold with big signs that read Buy Cookies, We're Cold. It's over. Well, for a couple of months anyway. On Thursday we had our last site sale. It was 11 hours long. In the city. Thankfully we weren't outside. You know, I don't think I've ever said Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night  Ma'am/Sir so many times in my life. But we did sell 61 cases of cookies, which is a darn lot of cookies. And we made enough profit that we can go on the trip we were planing, which is fantastic.
And I just found out that David Tennant and Billie Piper are coming back for Doctor Who's 50th anniversary special!! I'm so excited! Rose has always been my favorite companion.

Toodle-loo,
Veela
